Saturday the 6th December brought almost 200 creative minds together for a night of art, design, live music and industry speakers. We officially launched Issue 01 of Kaleido with a bang, and had a damn good time!
We rolled out the red carpet for an amazing line-up of Sydney artists in our featured gallery.
Our incredible industry speakers shared their experiences transitioning into the creative industries.
Charlotte Hamlyn, award winning childrens’ television writer and filmmaker, opened the speakers and gave us an insight into the not-so-straight-forward progression into making money as a freelancing creative.
Sam Hornitzky, digital designer and inspirational writer behind Happiness in the Creative Industry, further shared her wisdoms about truly enjoying your creative work while also looking after yourself.
Lee Launay, production designer, took us through the transformations and realisations from childhood to now, that have shaped his successful career.
Bobby Townsend, editor of Something You Said, helped us understand the balance of what makes a great writer – talent, punctuality and being a nice person. If you can manage all 3 at once!
Gemma O’Brien, typographer and illustrator extraordinaire, rounded off the dynamite speakers with an energy filled insight into her fast paced career which has caught the eye of huge clients and taken her around the world. Even her trips have gained attention through her #spewbagchallenge.
We were lucky enough to get a taste of some beautiful live music from Sydney musicians, Leura and Twin Caverns.
A big thank you to all the supporters and to everyone who came along to celebrate the launch, what a way to kick things off!
