Foster The People
Supermodel (2014)

Splendor In The Grass has inspired my ‘Album of the Week’ having all these amazing international acts on our shore recently only seems fitting that one would take the title. My pick goes to Foster The People’s second release ‘Supermodel’.

‘Supermodel’ delivers an eclectic mix of up-beat, electric, indie rock, combining glorious harmonies with laid back lead vocals. Its almost incomprehensible that one guy can cover so many octaves in such a diverse way.

From the smooth song transitions ‘Supermodel’ proves to be a well sought out second album. The first two tracks Are You What You Want To Be? and Ask Yourself are so perfect for the openers, bringing such energy that it should calm the nerves of any doubtful fan.

Nevermind, brings a melancholy love story vibe, combining minimalist synth and chilled guitar and drums. Vocally this track is one of my favourites keeping it simple and building in the chorus with gang vocals and minimal percussion.

Best Friend and The Truth in my opinion are the standout tracks on ‘Supermodel’ they both capture the ‘sound’ of Foster The People from their energetic nature to the crazy vocal harmonies and melodies taking you from your reality to their own made up world, and i wouldn’t want it another way.

If you were a fan of the first album I’d highly suggest to give ‘Supermodel’ a spin, you can’t be disappointed, its actually impossible!!

So with this said it lands, Foster The People4.5 out of 5
